Hi all, I am thinking of applying for planning for a side extension on my house which is currently being rented out. I know exactly what I want and have it drawn out roughly.

Is there anyone out there that (reasonably qualified, architect, architects assistant and so on, even student) would be willing to do the drawings for free or for a not so big fee...?

    Interested let me know...

    thanks

    N

I had intended to do it myself... as long as I have the drawings complete and do the forms along with 34 euro fee to the co. council... that is what I took from conversations with county council ....
    have I missed something?

So you want to do the easy but and get the hard by done for free!

The drawings need to be done to Dept. Of Environ standards. Requires a detailed survey of the site, drainage and adjoining houses so a street scale can be drawn. Then you need to prepare plans, elevations, sections, streetscapes and site layout, both existing and proposed while trying to make sure the proposal complies with proper planning guidelines and building regulations (ie. That what you have drawn can actually be constructed).

Then you have to word the newspaper, purchase OSi Maps from ordnance survey ireland and mark them up correctly.

Sorry OP but I don't think you will get someone to do it for free.
Even as a nixer, here in Dublin the fees are around 1k.

Nobody is going to do it for free anymore than you would let someone live in the house rent free OP. You also won't get a builder to build it for free.

However, thinking laterally - What do you do for a living? Maybe you could do a barter. You could do some work for the professional in return for them doing work for you.

Please be a masseuse, please be a masseuse :D

All joking aside, not a bad idea.

My mate works for a large German main dealer and I done similar. I prepared his planning application in exchange for a major service and some upgrades to my old car. Well worth it financially for both of us :D

Hi Guys, is there anyone out there willing to quote me for the job and if perhaps there is a payment plan available?

Really interested in getting this done for my house and perhaps my mums house... both current rentals which we intend to sell in next 24 months.

You won't get a payment plan for this type of thing. Unless of course you started the payments now and when the full amount is there, get the work done. There's too much outlay with planning fees, and associated costs.

Can you not go to the credit union?

Hi OP, thanks for a good laugh reading this post.

There is a shortage of skilled archs/ arch techs in Ireland. Those with any experience are now working flat out.

Good luck on your project, pleaae come back and tell us how you actually get on

Would you be willing to part with a % of proceeds of house sales in return?
