    Hi All,

I have not been to the Courtmac 10k before but I heard that it is a lovely run and race. I'm planning on heading to it next Friday night. Anyone else on here thinking of going to this also? Anyone do this before and have good tips?

    Hi Podge,

I did it last year. Lovely location for a race, out and back course along the water. It helped that it was a lovely summers evening. One hill as you
go through Timoleague, this comes at around 5km mark.

I turned up early last year and got parking at the back of the hotel where you also register. They had a lovely spread afterwards with lots of buns and sandwiches, they also had a BBQ where you could buy a burger or hotdog if you liked.

As 10km races go you probably won't find one better than this. I'm thinking of doing it myself, but just after two weeks holidays with no running and lots of eating and drinking.

The forecast is good for Friday as well so hopefully it will be good.

Buns and BBQ! sounds great, must find a driver as well for a couple of drinks!!

I'm really looking forward to it, first 10k this year.

Did you enjoy the race? I never made it down

Great race, although with a fierce headwind for the first 5k or so until you hit the bridge at Timoleague. It was my first time doing it, but I'll definitely be back. A nice flat straight route and a great spread afterwards. Very enjoyable.

A lovely race. As HBS said, a strong head wind on the first 5k heading from Courtmac to Timoleague, which didn't seem to be much help on the return 5k but I suppose it was. A very flat route, nice run along the seafront all the way. I got a PB , 19 seconds better than another race last year. I was a bit sore on Saturday and Sunday but OK now again.

There was lovely food and cakes after. My gang didn't leave the hotel until about 12:30 with a few pints on board and great fun.

We'll be back next year, onto to Shannonvale 10k in a few weeks!
