    Get it ripped out.
They are bad for the environment - your car will produce less CO2 without it.

After the prime time expose on that last week I would be fairly sure that they will become part of the nct sooner rather than later. Just my opinion but when stuff like this is highlighted the loopholes generally close.

Wishy washy pretend test if any test is implemented in the next 5 years.
Practically ZERO chance of some functional test being implemented, or anything beyond someone eyeballing it to see if the external shell is there.

If "the man" wanted to contradict the "Clean Diesel" image they'd be doing it already.

There is a few places you can approach around Munster
    http://fermoygarage.com/
    http://dpfdoctor.ie/
    http://www.corkturbo.ie/

I don't vouch for any of them

Thanks for all the replys, I drove it from Cork as far as Cashel yesterday and kept the revs up most of the way and it seems to have done the trick ,
It's driving a lot better now and the fault light has gone out ,
I would strip the filter out and remap but the wife does not want to , she might change her mind in the future if (when) it happens again .

If it happens again, take the filter out, wash it with a pressure washer and put back.

Just spoke to my missus, after sales manager in a Nissan main dealer. Cost of Regeneration is €200+vat.
Are you sure you weren't quoted for a replacement??

A good spin on the motorway when the light is on keep her up the rev's

Small spins can kill a dpf stopping and starting so a short run to work or school etc can be be tough on it

The forced regen in the main dealers basically means they plug it into the computer and the engine goes through a series of revs etc and will try clean the soot out of the filter similar to what you completed

Yep, a weekly long drive on the motorway or good main road, keeping the speed above 60kms/hour in preferably 4th gear, will keep the DPF clean.

It wasn't a main dealer that gave the quote , but that's good to know that a regen would be a lot less than I thought .
