To coincide with National Bike Week, Cyclist.ie has appointed Prof. Donal O'Shea as its first Hon. President.
Prof. O'Shea heads up the RCPI policy group on obesity and works at St. Vincent's University Hospital (‪SVUH‬) where he is a consultant endocrinologist specialising in treatment of overweight and obesity syndromes.
We have got to urgently manage traffic differently so that many more children will cycle to school. Active travel for both children and adults commuting to school, college and work has to be given greater priority over other modes in investment and traffic management terms.
This is why our ‪#‎Love30ie‬ campaign and Phil Skelton's ‪#‎StayinAlive1‬.5 campaign are so important. Councillors and An Garda Siochana please do not oppose this re-balancing of how we transform our streets into places where people, as citizens, live.
The press statement announcing Prof. O'Shea's appointment is on the Cyclist.ie web-site, Facebook page and Twitter feed.
