Anybody had a good experience with a medium/psychich?

Im not talking general stuff, I mean were they specific in giving names, dates, events when connecting with a spirit. I find this stuff very intriguing.

Also do people believe in this sort of thing?

Why is a psychic called a "medium"?

    Because it's not well done.

Total scam artists, its always vague, initials and could refer to anybody - give me a full name a dob and a social security number .. then i´ll start to listen.

Even when one of those charlatans was caught being prompted in one of her dublin shows, people still defended her and go to her shows.

Fools and their money, OP why would you find that bollix intriguing anyway ?

    Ever heard of reality ?

I suggest this as a read

There are two indications that to me should clearly demonstrate to anyone that psychic powers are bollocks.

    1. That no-one is using their powers to make a load of money. I refuse to believe that all psychics are so incorruptible.

    2. That no-one has gone public with at least strong evidence to suggest they have genuine powers (which would be very easy to demonstrate). How could so many people resist the attention?

This reminds me of a Mrs. Browns Boys conversation.

Deano or one of his friends: "Oh I love to call the psychic line, they see dead people"
Mrs. Brown: "They see feckin' eejits with credit cards"

I sense...you are from the south, perhaps Cork or Kerry, with strong connections to the south-west. You prefer the country to the big city. You have a questioning mind and a strong sense of justice, with an abiding interest in the dear departed who are definitely just behind that veil there waiting to talk to you. Mystery attracts you, although you're a quiet sort, who likes reading.

Also, I sense a man with light hair, perhaps it's grey, the spirit world is very misty and everything looks a bit grey. He could be blond. His initials are..A..E? Spiky letter anyway, could be N or M...

Mediuming is just about cold reading, taking cues from the speaker, noting what they're wearing, type of clothing, jewelry, and most importantly, responding to how the person starts to react to anything they say. Widening eyes, follow that cue, you're onto something. Confused look, keep shifting the goalposts slightly until the very vague stuff you say can be possibly made relevant to something. Leave gaps for the mark to start helpfully responding (since we're cued to answer when there's a pause). Etcetera.

I'm not going to flatly say that there's no such thing as ghosts or spirits because, meh, I don't know. But I don't think there has been a single documented case of a medium saying "Yep, I see your mother, her name is Angela Lucinda Greene, died in childbirth 14 years ago, she wants you to know that she buried treasure under the third hedge to the left of the front door, and she really hates those paisley curtains you put up in the living room." and being right :D

Enough people do that quite a few people can make a career out of exploiting them. I am not aware of any reason to put actual stock in it however.

I always hate it if you see that the police have brought in one of these chancers to help with an investigation.

Talk about giving a sign to the public that you haven't a clue what has happened.

I went to a medium once and she said that one of my friends was pregnant or would get pregnant soon, and like, within a year, one of my friends was pregnant!

Exactly, also what a message it sends, that this is actually a real trustworthy field .

    "Ohmahgawd, yes!! So spooky!"

Con artists and delusionals who have a knack for using careful phrasing on people, operating as mentalists. None have ever been proven and have been repeatedly debunked / shown up, even their biggest names have been found to be frauds on numerous occasions.

Derren Brown did an interesting documentary on these and, you know, I agree with what his conclusion was - what they'r doing is morally wrong, but at the same time they do provide a lot of comfort to bereaved people.

Yeah but it becomes like a hit to these people, they need it more and more, and at the end of the day they are taking their money ..gotta draw the line somewhere.

Then surely the onus should be on the people who use said services to quit and not the people that provide them?

It's the same basic premise as the church - give us money and you'll get to talk to your dead wife again. Only the mediums offer the express version - pay up front in a lump and speak direct to her today as opposed to pay in instalments and speak to her in the next life.

Did anyone see that episode of Catfish where a woman claimed she was talking to a girls dead father? It was pretty insane and they couldn't prove she was faking it. The info she knew wasn't public info and only a small amount of family members knew. Interesting watch.

I've never been to a medium but I'm kind of curious what they'd come up with. I'd love to go in and be really vague and not react to much to see what they'd say.

You're a woman of childbearing age and your female friends are likely to be the same age as you or most of them anyway. If they're of childbearing age there's a very strong random possibility that one of them will get pregnant within the next year. An even stronger possibiity if you go into the medium with a wedding ring on your finger as your friends are more likely to be married or in relationships. Birds of a feather and all that.

    Q.E.D. :D

Clearly the medium followed you home - spied on you - and perforated the condoms of anyone and everyone you were seen to come into contact with.

    It's a 101 move from these people :)
