Using CurrencyFair to transfer CAD Dollars back to Euro-based Irish Bank Account

Hey there,

I'm looking for the cheapest way to transfer my Canadian Dollars in my Canadian bank to Euros in my Irish bank account.

I've signed up to CurrencyFair - but it's saying I need to do a transfer from my Canadian bank account to an Irish bank account denominated in Canadian dollars. They warn that "Please note that this account is held in Dublin, and your bank may charge an international transfer fee when sending in money. There is also an intermediary bank who may deduct a small fee."

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks,
Matt

I've never done it with CAD but have done for GBP/EUR previously. You transfer to a currencyfair account, then exchange it to the other currency, then transfer the exchanged currency to your account.

My UK account deducted a fee for receiving the cash, I can't remember how much exactly, but it was less than £20
