SD Card question

I'm a new recruit to Android from Apple and have to say no regrets so far! Just a question on a new sd card I put in phone the other day. I've music and photos set to saves to it so got a surprise today when I took a photo and a popup told me it couldn't save to the sd card. Checked the setting and sure enough it had changed back to save to device. Went to sd card on 'My Files' and it said there was 0 files on the card. Rebooted phone and everything's back to normal all music and photos are back! It's a s7 BTW. Any views on this, a brand new 128gb sd card on the blink or just a glitch?

Sounds like a glitch on the phone's part not seeing the SD card, when that happens the phone's settings will change back to store the data to the phone.
