Medical card cancelled without knowledge

Hi, hoping to get someone who might know how this goes.
My GP office called me today to say that My medical card was cancelled in February and I now have to pay for a procedure that I had in March.
I was never notified of any cancellation of my card.
I called the medical card LoCall line and they said that they couldn't see that anything had been sent to the address associated with my card.
I have since moved from this address but have been getting mail forwarded.

In the time since it has been cancelled I had 1 visit with my own GP, 1 visit to caredoc and 2 prescriptions, all of which I thought were covered.
I now know that I have to pay for these visits but I don't know what I have to do in terms of the caredoc and prescriptions. Who do I contact or what happens with those charges? It's going to be hard enough to pay these back now but I need to do what I can to even try to get a payment plan in order.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

If you move house you have to let medical cards know. If you have given a different address to care doc or your GP or a hospital and your address doesn't tally with the address medical cards has then the card would just be cancelled on the grounds that your not living there any more. Kitts reapply quickly and include a note saying you omitted to inform them of your change of address and ask them to backdate the card. They might.
Having your post forwarded is no good for either medical cards or SW

Thanks for the reply! I really know I should have changed them, we were moving with a 3 week old and I rarely need to use it so it never even occurred to me, I really am kicking myself now!

Do you know what happens in relation to the prescription charges by any chance?
I've already reapplied online so can only hope for the best at this stage.

On a positive note the employee on the LoCall number really was great!
