    A friend of mine drives an 10 Peugeot 307 petrol and the fan was staying on for 10 to 15 minutes after turning off the ignition.He brought it to a local mechanic who couldnt find the problem and advised that it be brought to main Peugeot dealer.They diagnosed the problem to Spark plugs which they replaced.How could Spark Plugs cause the fan to stay on ?

    They couldn't.

    That doesn't make sense at all.
    I presume the fan doesn't stay on any more?

    It's a Peugeot. Full of electrical gremlins most of them are.

    On some cars, fan was directly connected to battery through temperature sensor in radiator.

    So even after engine was turned off and ignition off, fan would still stay on if coolant temperature in radiator was above certain threshold.

    I know that used to be the case on older fiats, peugets, etc...

    I'm not sure if that's what it is on 307.

    I've heard this as being the norm on some Peugeots. Sparg plugs it 100% would not be anything to do with.

    I know someone with a 307 that did/does this.

    Can't see how to would be related to spark plugs, but you'd imagine the dealer would have some clue! Did it fix the issue?

    307 was gone before 2010 surely? I know someone driving an 08 308.

    Thanks for all replies .The problem was solved but the invoice was for replacing spark plugs.The owner knows damn all about cars but knew enough to question the replacing of plugs and was convinced by garage that that was the problem.Bye the way Im of the same opinion as the rest of ye.Thats why I posed the Question.

    It's def spark plugs and not glow plugs, it is a petrol 308 yeah?

    @bazz there was only 1 307 registered in 2010, so it's safe to say it's a 308

    Definitley Petrol and Spark plugs and definitley Peugeot .I thought it was 2010 but could be earlier.I read some where that Glow Plugs on a diesel could be a problem but this is petrol.

    Could never understand why car manufacturers moved away from belt driven fans to electric ones....I know some new cars still have belt driven fans..but all nearly electric these days.

    Engines are normally transverse these days so fan on the front wouldn't be that practical, plus electric fans are more efficient.
