Maybe not the right place to post this, please move if not.
I was wondering has anyone who has completed this marathon any suggestions for accommodation either at the start or the finish and how easy is it to get from the airport to the city centre. Thanks.

Myself and a few friends booked a small flat with this crowd a few years back, it was right next to the Fernsehturm so just a stroll to the start of the marathon. No problem getting into town from the airport, Germany is pretty good on the old public transport front!

Have a look in the Events thread for info from previous years.

Airport to city centre via U-bahn is fast and cheap. The hardest part is buying the ticket from the machine with the queue building up behind you. ;)

In 2014 stayed here in the Adina at Hackescher Market. Not the cheapest option but very well located and as hotels go, the self-catering setup makes it easier to be in control of your routine on the morning of the race. Very well located for S-bahn connections to start area too (no more than a 10 min journey to Hauptbanhof, then short walk to Tiergarten).

    Enjoy - it's a fabulous event.

Just booked a hostel for myself on Hostelword for Sept - looks like there are loads of options still available in and around the city centre.

I've a hotel booked for a while now, but I'm thinking of cancelling that and going with a AirBNB, and saving myself €200 in the process.

I'm booked through AirBnb too, but came across this article after booking. I'm sure it means nothing (they likely have removed all affected properties before you made your booking), but worth a mention.

Thanks Krusty was actually aware of this. Where I'm staying has had bookings since the article appeared. No harm giving the heads up though. Best of luck in the marathon.

For next year I have stayed here a few times Hotel Sylter Hof Berlin City West. Bar in the lobby. Great place for pasta next door and 20 euro in your pocket at the end of the marathon will get you a rickshaw from the finish back to the door ;)

Have done the Airbnb route myself. Short walk from Brandenburg Gate.

Stayed in the Novatel am Tiergarten. Very handy, close to the race start/finish
