AC works great, but when I turn it off there's a musty smell hanging about for a short while.

Do I need one of those aerosol "bombs" or something else?

I've had that a couple of times with a Volvo, when I turned the car on as well.

    The bomb did the trick.

I had a similar problem I used one of them a/c bombs from micksgarage and it left a horrible smell for about a week but after that there has been no odour since at all so it does seem to work.

Either the bomb or change the pollen filter.

Go with filter first, unless you have changed that in the last years. It probably needs changing anyway.

I had the same problem (specifically *after* turning AC off) and the aerosol bomb did the trick.

I get the same from smell from my car. I temporarily turn the heat and fans back up full for ten seconds and then back to cold. That clears the whiff as well till the next time the aircon is used.
