Because it has surely published the most pathetic, least newsworthy news ever.

Irish fans change a tyre, oh we're great, everyone loves us.

    http://theliberal.ie/the-best-fans-in-the-world-irish-fans-stopped-to-change-a-flat-tyre-for-an-elderly-couple-in-paris/

I'd say even Joe.ie, where every second story is "foreign person loves hurling, aren't we great" might have rejected this one.

Wonder where they copied the article from...

Actually, forget that. I wonder if that iPhone I won from them will ever arrive

I can barely get the key in the back door when I'm that plastered, pretty amazing they managed to change a tyre.. and in a foreign country. That's newsworthy in itself

Nope... it's up on Joe.ie too, takes more than that to get rejected by them

It's not even a proper story. No details at all. Who was driving the car? Where were they going? What make and model of car was it? Was it properly taxed and insured? No comments from them praising the good samaritans? They'll need to flesh our their stories a bit more in the future.

If you hate it, then why do you read it? You do realize that every time you click on the site generates money for them? They couldn't give a sh1t whether you like what they say. If you truly can't stand the site, don't visit. Simple.

Why is The Liberal.ie posting about that sh*te when they haven't even reported on the results of the marriage referendum yet? :pac:

Which makes the little bio about the 'author' at the bottom all the more funnier.

All this "look at the Irish we're great aren't we!" is embarrassing. Leave it up to the locals and others to decide that. Just patting ourselves on the back all the time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,934 ✭✭✭Renegade Mechanic

Stopping to change a tyre is cringeworthy? Ok, mabye the coverage surrounding it is, but there's a reason we are the most liked and welcome football fans around the world, bar none. This is it.
We don't have much else to be proud of at this point, so I say cover away!

    Jaysis,

Some Irish lads do something decent for someone, gets picked up by a "news site".

Whats the problem? It's better than reports of drunk Paddy's running amok, wrecking the gaff...or is that what you would prefer?

    Newsworthy story? No

Threadworthy? Certaintly not, you are as bad OP, too much irony on this site.

So, just to recap, you agree that the story is not newsworthy...but you don't think it's worth a thread here...but you think your comment about a thread here about a story that is not newsworthy is fine?

    Lets not play sillybuggers OP.

    1. I agree that it is not newsworthy.

    2. It certaintly is not worth a thread, especially as you also dont think it's newsworthy....sure why would it be threadworthy?

    3. AH isn't a "news dump" as you well know.

    4. What was the point to this thread exactly?

You describe the story like this:
"surely published the most pathetic, least newsworthy news ever.".......can you not see the irony of starting a thread about the most pathetic, least newsworthy news ever?

    Honestly?

    Wow.

    Just...wow.

Is there an editor at that site who one day wanted to publish interesting news, maybe dreamed of a big scoop...and now is just firing up any old utter utter crap that lands on his desk?

    The Germans agree we're great.

Suddeutsche Zeitung today printed an article which singles-out the Ireland-Sweden match as being an example to the others of how to celebrate in peaceful spirit. Sorry if you don't speak German; the author seems to have been so impressed, he ends by saying he hopes these two groups of fans get to see their teams play in the finals

    http://www.sueddeutsche.de/sport/fussball-em-irland-vs-schweden-der-stimmungsvollste-abend-der-em-1.3032494

Posters don't have to explain the point of threads to you.

    But I'm a nice guy.

The point of the thread is to highlight the paucity of what passes for news on certain sites. I think that is valid and worthy of comment. You don't, although you incorrectly assert that my comment is as invalid as the story itself, which amounts to fundamentally missing the while point.

You also don't understand what news dumping is. I am perfectly entitled to criticise the media. If you think it's against the charter, report it.

True, it helps to ask when the point isnt clear. Can't a guy ask a qwestion anymore?
    But I'm a nice guy.

You are a lovely guy Conor74 and I appreciate the response, levity and patience that you have shown to me thus far, despite my insubbordination.

Better suited in News and Media or Ranting and Raving perhaps? Only a humble suggestion of course.

    Just ironic 'sall, not invalid.

Ah now don't be like that schnookums, no need to suggest that I'm stooopid.

Criticise the media all you like compadre.

Gotto go Conor74, be back later, love you xxx

So when can we expect the post about begrudgery and comments about posts not agreeing they are great ?

Id' rather see the Irish are changing tyres as opposed to the attempts at stacking patio furniture of other fans.
