Calor Gas vs Oil Boiler

I am just starting a house renovation and i'm considering replacing the old oil boiler with Calor Gas tank. I want to have instant hot water with high pressure. I got a quote for a 26kw gas combi boiler and will get €1200 free gas on signing up with Calor with prices fixed for 12 months.

I am insulating the house and changing the doors & windows so i want to reduce my heating costs as much as possible.

It seems like a good deal but any advice would be welcome on lpg vs oil.

If you can't get mains gas stick with the oil.

Thanks Wearb. I can't get mains gas. Can i ask why you'd advise against the lpg?

There are loads of posts here about it. Basically costs after incentives run out and then price based on usage. So if you try to save by cutting usage, you pay extra. Search this forum for LPG

I agree, tank LPG is dearer than most of the other mainstream heating options.

Your water pressure normally has nothing to do with your heating method. On demand combi boilers are available for oil.

If I was you I would get a condensing oil combi and a boiler stove.

Hi, you have probably made your decision at this stage but here is my two halfpence worth!
We have been customers of Calor for over 25 years and cannot praise them highly enough. They "own" the tank and take responsibility for it, checking it every visit. We pay €50 per month which covers our gas and "rental" of tank. They provided new tank 5 years ago. That easily covers what we use. We also have open fire in our sitting room which has back boiler for heating rads in the evening. Thinking of getting stove hence I'm checking boards.ie and came across your post....
