    Hi
I am looking for some help and advice regarding improving the handwriting of a ten year old. He has been doing joint writing for two years now but it is very difficult to read. The teacher has commented on it but am looking for advice on how we can help.
I would be happy if he didn't have to do joint at all but as it's on the curriculum we are going with it.
Any books, advice or experience that could help.
    Thanks.

Joint writing is often easier for kids to do.
Does he have the basic letter formations?

Joined writing will help with fluency and would you believe, spelling. Has he teacher recommended a penmanship book?Schools use various styles so it's best to stick to the one your particular school uses. How is his "print" ie non-joined writing?

    Thanks for the replies.

His 'print' handwriting is clear and neat, and in joint writing the individual letter are ok, it's just when it all joints together that we run into the problem.
He just seems to scrawl words with the joint writing.
There is very little help from his teacher, unfortunately. I am a secondary teacher and know what the scrawls can look like at the other end, so trying to nip it in the bud now.

    Thanks for the help.

If he manages print, it would seem he doesn't have any motor skills issues.Did he use a penmanship book this year?
