Reuters reporting loud bangs at scene. Not good. Hopefully it's the cops using stun grenades

Well south of the city centre. Hopefully not terror related.

wife found dead, child hurt but not seriously. hostage taker dead also.

be surprised if its terror related as those guys usually go after bigger targets. Said to be a neighbor that did it... Sad all the same :(

It's...weird to think that, partly because of international attention due to the risk of terrorism, partly because of the 24-hour news cycle...people in foreign countries were already talking and speculating about it while that woman was being held hostage with her toddler, wondering would they get out.

That isn't a dig, by the way, just...it is incredibly weird when you think about it.

    Poor kidlet. And the family.

Wife and attacker dead. Hopefully it's just a local madman and the cop didn't stumble upon a terror cell etc..

Yea sounds like a disgruntled young lad from the area, poor kid heart goes out to him.

The attacker shouted “Allah Akbar,” Le Parisien cited witnesses as saying. : (

They did call on their followers to carry out lone wolf attacks in the West throughout Ramadan.

There will likely be more terrorist attacks in France in the coming days and weeks.
A very brazen terrorist the way he broadcast it live on Facebook.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,761 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

The terrorist posted the aftermath of the killing on Facebook.
He was known to police for his involvement with terror networks and had been sentenced to 3 years in jail in 2013 for trying to recruit for a terrorist group associated with Pakistan.
These people need to be locked up for a very long time and if released they need to be tagged.
What happened last night was avoidable.

Of course he pledged allegiance to IS even if he wasn't an actual member. It's the safest way to ensure broadest media coverage....

I know, he didn't even pay the premium club membership fee... everyone knows you need that to be a member. He probably doesn't even have the Isis keychain. Boo!

How can we turn this around so that it was an attack on the LGBTAIQRUFNGMAOGB community and not merely a terrorist attack?

Is that supposed to be a joke?

Is that supposed to be a joke?

No, it's based on comments in the thread regarding the murders in Orlando.

Then it's probably not something to joke about then. Seriously? A mass murder and a slaughtered family? Have some bloody respect.

Any further comments like this and you'll be banned from the thread.

Go back twenty years and every town had some hard man, or teenager claiming they, or their cousin, or their uncle is a member of the IRA. They'd throw some spray paint on a wall, or write on a toilet door, or have IRA slogans written on the front of their copybooks. And the dogs on the street knew they were full of crap.

The thing with these 2 terrible incidents in the last few days is that these were 2 people who got brainwashed by what these terrorist are saying and are striking out (for want of a better word) on there own and ISIS can claim yep this is us without having been part of it per say

And you can be guaranteed there are hundreds of other brainwashed Muslims coming to a town near us soon. This is becoming more and more frequent and the hard cold reality is it can not be stopped unless Europe comes to it's senses and realise we have a real problem with Islam. At this stage it's just a matter of when not if it happens again.

I am sure there will be not sure about the amount but I am also sure there could be brainwashed Irish people also so what do we do with them. We have a problem with certain element in Islam and the Irish authorities and the Islam community have to do there bit

Tragic, that poor child orphaned, I guess the one good thing is the attacker only had a knife and hadn't bought a semiautomatic rifle.

He spent 3 years in prison fro recruiting for them, so in this case, i'd say there's a link

The reason for this attack is religion, the one in America a few days ago was the same. Why some people try and pretend that's not a link or reason is beyond me.

I didn't hear anything about this until this morning. Just odd that there is wall-to-wall coverage of the murder of the MP Jo Cox, but very little about the Parisian officer and his wife. Okay, a police officer is not as important as an MP, but even so... is it because we are blasé about Islamic extremism?

It's just more shocking when a non-Islamic-looper does it at this stage. We expect them to behave in this manner now.
