Cigarette lighter fuse replacement question on Volvo S40

My cigarette lighter isn't working for a few days now. I don't smoke and only use it to charge my phone. I suspect but am not 100% sure that it's the fuse.

My question is this. Can any garage repair this or do I have to take it to a main dealer? And approx. how much would something like this cost?

As you can probably tell, I'm not the best when it comes to stuff like this......

    Open the fuse box.
There might be a legend telling whatceach fuse is for.

    Pull the relevant fuse.
You should be able to see the broken wire.

Just buy another fuse and push it in

Fuse will cost less than 1 euro.

At the risk of sounding even dumber than I already sound - where would one buy a fuse like that? Would halfords sell them?

    Halfords.

    Local auto factors

    Petrol stations

Even walk into any main dealer, and go to the parts counter, with your old fuse in hand.

You might even find them in Tesco

Halfords and many motorfactors. Sometimes even petrol stations.

Look in your owner's manual to find fuse list and locations

Just make sure its the same like for like fuse. The colors indicate the size of the fuse. Don't replace, for example, a 5 Amp fuse with a 20 Amp fuse. So if its blue, make sure you replace with a blue etc :)

If you fancy stepping the DIY up a bit, change the fuse for another of the same rating and then check the socket with ignition on.
Use a replacement fuse from a lamp or similar, don't use one from a fuel pump or critical part.

Or just drive to halfords and bring old fuse in with you.
