How do we kill these trees?

There's what we think is an elderflower tree growing right next to a drain, between the house and path. Worried that the root system will damage pipes. Does anybody have any solution of how to kill it? Chopping it did not work.

There is also these two out the front right at the edge of the grass and path. We do not know what these trees are, so any identification and advice on how to get rid of them would be appreciated. Chopping did not work with second picture as new growth has started.

    Looks like sycamore

keep cutting it back to its root, it will eventually die. you could paint the cut with brushwood killer but don't give it a chance to grow more than a few inches. the small one is a sycamore. just pull it out now by the root and it won't develop further. the other looks like a willow. treat like the first and keep cutting it.

Just yanked the sycamore out, not sure I got all of it, not a lot of root came out. Hopefully that'll be the end of that one!

    Thanks for the tips.

Treat the other two trees with a systemic weedkiller to kill the roots. You need to do it onto a fair bit of leaf so spray it, leave it for a couple of weeks then cut off the growth if you wish. If new growth appears, repeat. You will probably take a couple of seasons to get rid of trees growing where you can't get the roots out.

Don't cut off the leafy branches until they have had chance to absorb the weedkiller and get it to the roots - about 2 or 3 weeks.

Shouldn't take a couple of seasons.

Cut back as low as possible, paint the freshly cut stump with roundup or brushwood killer and it should kill it off.

I know where full trees were killed by drilling a few 13mm holes into the trunk at 45defrees and filling the holes with diesel, fully grown tree was dead in 2 months.

Diesel will work wonders at killing trees.
However it also acts as a residual weedkiller, i.e. it may prevent plants from growing in that are for a few years to come.

Only if sprayed around like a broadcast weed killer. The method I described above doesn't impact the surrounding soil at all, only the tree "treated"

In any way, diesel or similar isn't suitable to be used like that, it's a pollutant. I was commenting that it works rather than advocating it's use in this way.
