Tooth abscess, long distance flight in 1 week

Just looking for some feedback or information.

Woke up last night with a huge pain in my left jaw. My teeth were pulsing with pain, and my left jaw was pretty swollen. Doctor took a quick look and said it was an abscess.

I got antibiotics today (Germentin) which I believe is to fight the infection, but I've also read that a dentist can't really take action until the infection has cleared due to the risk of it spreading.

Im away on holidays for 2 weeks next Monday, with a 9 hour flight each way. I've heard this can be pretty painful.

I'm going to call the dentist first thing tomorrow, but in terms of time, is a week too soon for the infection to clear and to get it seen to by a dentist? What's the likely outcome here, and is there anything I can do / not do besides antibiotics to help clear the infection?

    Thanks

see a dentist asap - its a total myth that dentists can / should not treat until the abscess has cleared - indeed, the gold standard is to treat the cause of the infection asap.

I've had an abscess and I found that rinsing my mouth with hot as you can bear salty water will help to clear the infection. It's an awful pain. I hope you feel better soon.
