what are your offices doing for the Ireland matches? is there a general benevolence of the employers for time to watch them?

In our place, there are 5 women and 4 men.

The women openly hate football, slag off their partners for watching it etc etc. In essence, they've absolutely no interest in the Euros.

Now, ireland's 1st match will be on tomorrow at 5 and it is a thought that the office close at 4 to enable the lads to watch it.

The question is - should the ladies be allowed off too and why?

I work for an English firm.

We're not only off early, but the firm has booked a corner of a pub for anyone who wants to watch the match with their colleagues and they're laying on food.

Anyone who doesn't want to go can head off early.

I'm giving my entire staff the day off for the match tomorrow. Handy too because my entire staff is just me. I'm such a sound boss

Well if you're just letting the lads off, then it's sexism, yes.
If you're just letting fans of football off and the women arent taking the chance they're idiots or good workers. Pick your poison

The five women should be able to hold the fort and cover for the men, so no need to shut the office at all.

Of course they should, its only fair. I would be far more interested in peoples reasons why not. I would expect fcuking war if they were told they were not allowed. Same goes for places that give additional smoking breaks beyond what others get.

Imagine a company closing on good friday and not taking it out of annual leave, but not for non-christians.

If they can cope and want to keep an office open another idea would be to let people have the option to come in an hour late and stay till 5 keeping things ticking over.

Is the correct answer! Or, if the wimmin insist on having the time off, they can make the sandwiches and keep the teapot topped up for their male colleagues!
