Tree in back garden

We have a tree at the back of our garden, been there since we moved in 20yrs ago, planted then

Since then, we had it trimmed about 6-7yrs ago in height and we got a local gardener to pull out some roots that were invading into the garden that were wrecking the grass.

Since then it has really grown upwards again and looks like the roots are back with vengeance

We'd really like to keep the tree but don't mind it getting taken down again by 10-15m off the top and get these roots removed

Any experts on here give me some advice as to what is best to do?

    Pics attached

My neighbor has what appears to be same tree but hasn't got as big as ours but then again is not there as long. I'm told its a beech tree

    Thanks

it doesn't look much more than 10-15m tall as it is.
it's a birch, so not the easiest tree in the world to shape.

its on the higher end of 15m by the look of it to the very tallest point

would it be worth getting trimmed all the same, do you know?
