100mm 2.8 macro lens advice

I'm going to be buying a 100mm 2.8 macro lens shortly and I have to make my mind up shortly as to which one I go for

    My options are -

    The Canon "normal" one

    The Canon "L" one

    The Tokina one

I've had a search on here and failed to find a thread with actual experience of all three

My initial plan was to get the "L" but the reviews online for the Tokina are making me think that it might actually be the one to go for

Anyone with experience of all three?

    What's your verdict?

I got a secondhand Tokina 100 on E-bay some months back and so far I find it great.I had looked at Nikon but the price difference brought me back to the Tokina.Have a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91bPN36tgwA Best of look and enjoy.

The Sigma 105mm has a good reputation also and it's under €500!

I got the Canon L one and I'm happy with it. Its the sharpest lens I've ever used.

    Right, update time.

I went with the Tokina in the end and its a seriously good piece of kit

Its well made, solid and the images off it are pin sharp

I am so glad I didn't go for the Canon lens, I'd have spent all that extra money and I'd just have got something equal (at best) to the Tokina

Good luck with it, personally I went with the Sigma 105mm after a lot of research.
