Uncomfortable saddle

I've just bought a new Trek 8.4 DS Hybrid. I know I haven't cycled in many years but the saddle, Bontrager H1 (says Nebula on it) seems too hard. Any better options?

How long have you been using it? Most saddles take a while to bed in, and it's a very subjective topic as everyone has their own preference.

Just over a week. Yes I know I need time but I've a feeling it will need to be more comfortable

Softer doesn't mean more comfortable as softer spongey saddles put pressure on your perenium and cause discomfort. Give your current saddle another few weeks, it'll take that for your ass to get used to it anyway and then look for something else, if need be.

Do you reckon you have your saddle set at the right height? Can make everything uncomfortable if it's too low.

The man in bike shop set it for me. I know I feel too much of my body weight on my hands when I cycle

I have the same saddle on my Hybrid. It took me a month or so and a fair bit of cycling to get used to the saddle. I find it really comfortable now though.

    That's reassuring, thank you!

It can take a while to get used to it.
For reference, I ride this saddle and it is very comfortable. Zero padding on it.

Check your saddle is level at least, parts can move a little once ridden so might be no harm to check. If your experiencing alot of weight on the hands that can be one of the causes.

I like the story. Lad is interested in making stuff. Starts up in college and on a web-forum. Now making stuff for Nibali. http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=80684&start=1965
