Water pump stopped working

    Hi,

This morning when I opened the cold water tap in the bathroom, the electrical mains tripped and the lights went off.

After I turned the mains back on, I noticed I didn't have any more pressure coming from the taps (only from the cold one in the kitchen, which I imagine comes directly from the building). I also couldn't hear the usual noise of the pump doing its job.

I have a Stuart Turner st 55 (picture ->UpPTO5S )connected to a switch in the wall (picture -> DTd15Ne ) so I imagine the issue must be either with the plump itself or the switch.

What do you guys think? I don't know absolutely anything about plumbing so I was wondering if it's worth for me to open the switch and try to fix it (replacing some piece?).

Also it appears there is some green paste fixing the switch to the wall, so I would need to remove this I guess.

Just wanted to gauge your opinions to see if with my description of the incidence you can determine if it's an easy fix.

Otherwise I'll just call a plumber.

    Thanks in advance.

(*) Note: Apparently I can't post pictures as I don't have enough messages yet, so I have just put the imgur shortcut :) If somebody can post them for me it'd be great.

Yes, I live in an apartment.

    The pictures are these ones:

I have a voltage tester but no clue how to use it (or even if I can use it directly on the black cable that goes from the pump to the switch).

If the fuses trip when you put the power back onto the pump then you have a short circuit in the pump. At best its only the circuit board, at worse its the pump motor windings.
The switch is the wrong one and should be one with an integrated fuse holder, so that needs to be changed. (Green stuff looks like some sort of sealant.)
If you cannot use a multi meter for testing, it may be best to get someone out to look at the pump and tell you what needs to be done.
It may be repairable, but it may need to be replaced.

    Thanks for your reply.

Would you know of any good or reliable companies in the city center area?

I'm afraid I don't have contacts, except Google.
