Rooting A New Phone

Just purchased a Samsung Galaxy J3 and was thinking of rooting it.
Mainly to move apps to sd card, which is near impossible and the 8gb memory is already full and I've hardly added any apps at all.
Question is, is this difficult to do?
I've googled a bit and there seems to be any amount of methods and software available to do this and I'm a bit lost.
Has anyone got an idiots guide to this and is it better to do it from a PC or direct to the phone.
    Thanks in advance.
