It isn't a fear of a particular dentist but just having something done. I hate the injections and feel my skin crawl just thinking about them . I can feel decay in my tooth and it is getting quite sore lately but I'm terrified of going to the dentist. I think a fill ing was put into this tooth last year. I'm 16 if that helps.what should I do

Have no fear-there is no pain whatsoever in a getting a filling. If it's a root canal that's equally painless albeit more expensive. Get it seen to as soon as you can, or you may regret it in later years.

A fear of dental treatment is a common complaint. Most people just get it done, not because they are not frightened but because it needs to be done. When you find a good dentist that numbs you up comfortably and painlessly you will loose all these fear and anxiety. There are also some techniques and medications that can help the anxious patient, although you sound quite reasonable and really not that scared.

I can hear the drill going and it freaks me out . also when ihe pulled my last tooth he was at it for ages and I get fairly anxious. Is sedation an option

Conscious sedation is very useful for patients like yourself - you generally will not have much memory, and it totally relaxes you for any treatment. In the long term, it is better to be able to attend without needing sedation - reduces complexity and costs, and you will develop trust in a caring dentist.
