2016/17 NATIONAL PIKE QUALIFIER ON SUNDAY NEXT 12th JUNE
The second independent qualifying competition of the 2016/17 National Pike Championships will be held next Sunday 12th June. We will be fishing over 4 miles of river. Interested anglers should check in at Fox`s Bar at Tooman on the Mohill/Drumlish Road (L1053)from 9.30 for fishing 11 to 4.
There is a change in the format of the competition this year. The number of independent qualifying competitions has been reduced from 10 to 7 and the number who go through to fish in the Final has been increased to 7 per qualifier. The Final will be held in April 2017. The winner of the Final will become the 2017 National Pike Champion and will captain the top 10 anglers in the Final in a 2 day International Team Challenge against Great Britain. This will be held in England in October 2017. The organisers, Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs (I.F.P.A.C.) will cover the cost of hotel B&B, presentation dinner etc for all team members.
Static ledgering with 2 rods is coming in this year on a trial basis under the following rules:
    1. Angler must stay where he casts his first line for the rest of the comp.
    2. Both rods are for ledgering no spinning, wobbling or float fishing allowed.
    3. If angler opts for ledgering at check in he must stick with this option for the day.
To enter you must be a member of one of the 70+ clubs affiliated to the Federation. If you are not a member of one of these clubs you can easily join one at the check in for around €10. The entry fee is €15 and there is an optional €5 pool for the heaviest pike on the day.
The other 5 qualifiers are as follows
    1. July 3rd river venue check in Bridge House Bar Athleague
    2. Sept. 4th river venue check in Lukers Bar Shannonbridge
    3. Oct. 9th lake venue check in boat launch Belturbet
    4. Nov. 6th lake venue check in Lake View Bar Lough Egish
    5. Feb. 5th lake venue check in Fishermans Rest Bawnboy
