Has anyone used the online Ikea kitchen planner to plan their kitchen. It's set up for the US, however I am finding it useful and was wondering what other people though?

What do you mean it's set up for the US?

    Are you in the US?

There's a version on the Irish site which would have all the Irish prices, also I think items are different on the US site too.

I love it, will be ordering a kitchen through them in the coming weeks. It can be temperamental though. A tip would be to make sure you're signed in when using it, even if it looks like you're signed in (it would say Hello amsbam at the top) click log in again because more often than not you're not properly logged in. It helps when you're saving a design too, otherwise it can freeze if you attempt to save it. Even if you're not ordering from Ikea it's a great planner to play around with to give you an idea of what will fit in your space.

I didn't realise there was an Irish version. When I googled it, it brought me to the US one. Now using the Irish one - Great improvement!

    Thanks for the tip.

I used it last year when deisgning my kitchen.
Gave my plans to our kitchen planner, who added to it, and amended as appropriate for what he was building for us.
A great tool for getting an idea of prices and for figuring out your layout, what will fit where etc.

Yep, I've used it heavily when designing our kitchen but will probably be going with another kitchen provider as Mrs Sleepy won't have a cream kitchen and a lot of the nicer touches (e.g. tongue and groove cover panels) don't exist for any of the doors we do like from Ikea.

It's laggy as hell and can be extremely frustrating to use but one tip I'd have is to take things slowly. If it freezes up, leave it time to recover and it usually will.

    Another tip

When you have things in your plan hit Ctrl Shift Alt H on your keyboard to give you a HD version. Much shinier :)

Apparently it works best on Internet Explorer.

we found it great, we knew the layout we wanted, so used ikea to measure, plan and design. We then brought the design around to compare what other companies could do. In the end, ikea designs were by far the cheapest, and also our favourite design.

The true benefit is that of the different companies we visited, they wouldnt provide us with the layout until a deposit was paid. With Ikea you can look at it in 3D, do pretend walk abouts to make sure its logical, and change things based on this. That gives great freedom and confidence.

It is laggy as hell though, you need to be patient.
