Greek island hopping

As July and August are totally the wrong times to be going to Thailand to island hop I am thinking of Greece now instead. I always think of those islands to be "romantic". Would a youngish girl on her own look totally out of place going to Greek islands on her own? Are there hostels on these types of islands? Any help…
