Marks in boot of Focus - noise insulation?

I am looking at a second hand 2008 Focus and came across these marks in the back of one. From a bit of research they seem to be for noise insulation, can anyone confirm? The owner talked to his mechanic after I met him and followed up to the say the same. I'm just trying to ensure it's not axel or wheel damage repair!…

Just have a look at a few other similar cars to see if they have them, there are hundreds of these cars for sale out there.

Pretty sure they are like that, have seen another focus like that, doesn't look like repair to me. Probably also to avoid the carpet/ spare wheel coverboard slipping about aswell as noise reducing.
