Hoping Cityjet can upscale and buy a few :)

Those enormous cockpit windows make the aeroplane look proportionally much smaller than it is, actually being bigger than an A320.

Cosmic radiation through the big windows, I assume.

No great problem, the pilots can just put their wallets on their laps as shielding. Much enters a pilot's wallet but nothing ever leaves...

Think the cosmic radiation will penetrate the fuselage as easy as it does the windows.

I don't like how the instrument panel blocks the massive cockpit windows.

Interesting looking aircraft, love the nose and cockpit window design but the very skinny wings and lack of any winglet device looks odd.

They are going to have to do like with the Sukhoi superjet and win an order from a Western Airline at less than cost just to get traction in the market.
This would be good for the aviation industry. Imagine how expensive cars would be if your choice of manufacturer was in practical senses limited to only Ford or Toyota.

Similar problem to Bombardier and their CS100, might be a lovely and great aircraft but no big order supporting the production line until Delta announced their 100+ order recently. While Bombardier are a recognised RJ producer the need to get big name support for their new aircraft was still a liability for the company.

However, the Sukhoi SSJ and the MC-21 have a far steeper hill to climb than a more proven manufacturer like Bombardier.
Once we see its dispatch reliability in service with Russian/Asian/African airlines over the next 5 years then you may see some smaller Western airlines making the jump from A & B to the newer (and perhaps cheaper) options. 175 total order so far isnt a lot for a mass market narrow body.
Traditionally, lack of post sales supply and support was a problem for Soviet/Russian aircraft manufacturers. They need to address this.

Looking at the aircraft itself, looks almost like a A321 type design, 2 small exits very close to the main doors. And cockpit to fuselage ratio definitely looks a big "off" in comparison to what we are used to. Interesting to see this. As we are so used to seeing the US design style ( followed by the European) over the last 50-50 years dictating what looks "right" on an aircraft.

All the more peculiar to see Cityjet's order from Sukhoi. At least there's a potential ex-Soviet bloc market for the MC-21; but, let's face it, the A320 family already has significant penetration with sales to Aeroflot, Donbassaero, etc, etc. We watch with interest.
