    Hi All,

Can anyone identify this component in the engine bay of a 2007 BMW 130i M Sport:

I'm currently looking at a car and this component is missing. What remains are the two bolt uprights:

The bolts however are clean and show no thread, hence the part was likely never fitted. However, it is mildly concerning that a part, present in most photos, is not there. There are no loose hoses, loose ends or clear indication of what should be there.

    Can anyone shed some light?

Could very well be. I'm currently considering the car and I'm practically certain the part was never fitted. I just want to be sure :)

It was worth googling "BMW ars" just to see the google suggested autocompletes.

Active role stabilisation. Rather than BMW arsehole as Google so kindly suggested.

In this case that reservoir circled in the OP looks exactly like the powersteering fluid reservoir in the minis with electro-hydraulic cranky cat steering. So I'm saying PS fluid reservoir.

you never know it could be the bmw arsehole reservoir, used to top up the indicator fluid, notoriously leaky things

I guess the OP has been sorted at this stage, so - how common is the Active Roll Stabilization on BMWs in Ireland?

The consensus is its the hydraulic steering reservoir, more common on the 135i as the 130i uses electric power steering.

I am, like yourself, curious about ARS however. Seems like a fairly pricey extra.

Having service responsibility for a MINI on it's 3rd PS pump... I'm very well acquainted with that reservoir haha.

One always pays extra for ARS, or so I'm told.
