Cleaning paintwork

I have two queries regarding the paintwork on my car. One of which only happened tonight!

The first involves my unsuccessful attempt to remove bird dung stains from the paintwork of my car. I have used a soft sponge and both cold and warm water. Not soapy. And this has not worked! My friend has advised me not to use turtle wax as this will embed the stains into the paintwork, but rather apply the household brand cif. Can anyone advise on the best solution ?

Earlier tonight I rather stupidly drove too close to a council traffic cone and its paintwork has rubbed onto the mud guard. Is there any way to remove red traffic conepaint off a black car? The traffic cone in question belonged to a set of of road works which took up the vast majority of the road making it impossible to pass without having to mount a pedestrian foot path.

    Many thanks in advance

Do not under any circumstances apply CIF to your paintwork or it will be destroyed.7

There's a cloth you can get specifically to remove the bird sheite with...

Don't use a sponge like above on the paintwork it'll do as much harm as dragging the poo around on it.

Soak the area in quick detailer or even half diluted car shampoo mix and it will break it down after a few mins.

Then a rub with a microfibre also soaked in water/shampoo will lift it.

A polish should lift the cone marks, just pray it hasn't damaged the paint or gouged marks into the mudguard.

    Thanks for that.

    Yb is spot on.

A very easy way of removing dried-on bird crap is to wet a tissue and just leave it sit on top of the poo. It will hydrate it enough to make it come off easily.

Always better off to do it as soon as you can.
