I. am thinking of doing a course in Athlone - course is only 2 days per week. Is there a. Hostel or something like a b+b that would be OK for a couple of nights per week?

Don't know about hostel but the shamrock lodge hotel is a grand spot.

AirBnB is probably your best bet.

There's rooms from like €30 per night in town.
