Hi just wondering does anyone know how to get font onto wooden mdf plaques. Bought the dovecraft stamps but they are tiny. Would like font around 12mm. Does anyone know how this is done?
    Thanks

You can use a stencils, but 12mm is quite small. Another way of doing it is to print out the text (in reverse) using an inkjet printer. Varnish the surface (some varnishes will yellow so test first), place the paper face down on the varnish while still wet, varnish the paper, leave over night, scrub off the paper with a damp sponge the following day.

you could also get the lettering from any graphics company that does vinyl cutting like the sort that is used for vehicle lettering. They can do 12mm, but ask for the 10 year vinyl... also, get some spare sets cut to do a few test runs, there is a knack to aligning the lettering when applying it. In fact get them to apply the lettering, it will only take them a minute.

If you are looking for the handmade look? print your text the size and font you need on std paper, place carbon paper over the MDF and put the printed paper over that and simpley rub a pen over the type, that trans fares the carbon onto the work and that's it.....seal with a spray lacquer.....only if you want that by hand look.

There's letter transfer sheets which might be suitable:

you would have to line up the letters yourself though

paint by hand...more rustic authentic look... or stencil... as others suggest
