It's a sad world we live in when stuff like this seems to be the daily routine and barely warrants a mention on here. Is it because these people aren't white skinned? I'm guessing the ape that got shot in the zoo will garner more column inches than this horrific terror attack in western media. What the fcuk is happening that this scant regard for human life isn't taken seriously and people in general are more interested in the size of some B list celebs arse or the latest transfer goings on in soccerball?

Anyway R.I.P all those who lost their life today in this attack on all our freedoms.

Can you not just discuss the attack instead of using it as a soap box in your moral outrage against western media?

Edit; btw I'm pretty sure skynews qualifies as western media.

It was a car bomb, not a bus bomb.

How exactly was this an attack on our "freedoms"?

You sound like you're parrotting propaganda soundbites a lot more than mainstream media.

No, it's because it's not unusual and in a place that has unfortunately seen a lot of this. Similar to how plenty of atrocities/killings in the recent war in the Ukraine didn't make headlines (they were "white" so we didn't get soapbox threads like this on the matter though).

Top story on RTE btw - http://www.rte.ie/news/

VBIED's are unfortunately an almost daily occurrence throughout the World, irregardless of ethnicity.

Why select this event now OP? What about the other larger events that have happened in the recent past?

    Why haven't you linked them?

The event you selected has been reported in US, Canadian, UK, Australian and Irish news sites, among more.

    What is your point?

Attack on our freedoms? You sound like a garbled mix of whinging university liberal and George Bush. I could well be wrong but it looks like an attack on the Turkish police force and you can be sure those lads aren't the slightest bit concerned with "freedom."

Every time I see people complain that the media aren't covering an event I just go to a news website and booom - there it is:

Hmm how many times have we heard this in the last year or two,
its getting tiresome. Why not just mourn it yourself then, I doubt you care as much as you're making out to.

If the event you are talking about hasn't been mentioned then how does you linking Reuters back up your claim?
This is a silly post tbh. It's all over the news - maybe in case you aren't able to find them I'll just post them here:

I believe you will find all Western papers have covered this story.
I think what your beef is that no one started a thread on it. Hardly something to throw a hissy fit about now is it?

It's a sad world we live in when people lack the intelligence to understand the concept of newsworthiness of media stories.

Some feign ignorance, in an attempt to look smart, but it backfires very badly. Some sadly genuinely are that fucking stupid.

You expected people to link to the various places in western media that it has been reported? Not much of a mission accomplished if your mission was to prove that people in the west don't care about people not in the west.

To annoy people and not to engage in debate.

Precisely. If something that affected white people in the west was not reported much by eastern media, fine in my opinion - proximity and relevance do have a bearing on how newsworthy something is. It is the natural order - not a deliberate strategy of trivialising the plight of people who are far away. That's the case with this story - much as the person who started the thread likes to think it's because the victims were not white and we are all racists.
