Hi all, I wonder if you could advise me.

I'm a young business teacher who has been given French classes to teach next year. I haven't taught French before, although I studied it for my degree and got a first class honours in it.

Where I have the difficulty is deciding what resources to use in the teaching of French. Can anyone recommend films, video clips, songs, apps, websites, newspapers, books, notes, grinds websites etc. etc. you found beneficial when learning French.

In exchange for any advice, I'm quite happy to translate a few things for ye or help out with grammar questions, etc.!

OP, please don't start threads on the same subject across multiple forums. I've removed the other threads that you have started elsewhere.

Hi OP, presume you are teaching in a second level school? Unless its a very small school there will be other teachers of French so your first step is to ask them re what text books they use at Junior and Senior level and they will quite likely also have other resources/ideas in the French Department. I am a bit rusty myself at the minute as I haven't taught French recently so I would have to do some thinking to unearth the names of resources but there are a great many available on line. I will post names when I remember them. Bonne Chance!

La classe de Sandrine and MML musings (2014 posts especially) are two blogs I used to follow on twitter. TES has numerous resources. There's, also duolingo and memrise but really if you do a search you will find all kinds of resources and you can try some out for yourself

    (native French teacher here)

The textbooks and exam papers can be a great help. Would also recommend Le Point Du FLE, as it has a LOT of resources for French as a Foreign Language teachers (not geared specifically towards the Irish audience but good to find games/listenings etc. on specific subjects).

My other favourite is BonjourFLE on wordpress (its resources are actually listed in lepointdufle.net but I like it so much I thought I'd put it separately). Lots of creative games and resources, as well as a "Revue de presse" with excerpts from newspapers articles, which could be very useful for the higher classes.

Also, if you have access to a computer room, I'd recommend using Quizlet to help your students revise vocabulary!

And finally, one of the best books I got in the last few years was French Grammar Made Easy, lots of great exercises and things are explained in a simple and clear manner, making it easy to use for your own explanations in class.

Yeah French Grammar Made Easy ^ great book! I got it for myself (I'm a student btw who just did his JC) and man it is of huge benefit to me and I'm sure the students that you would teach would find it useful also. Complete French Grammar is also a good book.

Resources I have found useful for French:
