Given the amazing popularity of ice cream in Ireland how much of it is made here?

Twisters. But the ice cream part has to be eaten first so I look like an absolute gom when trying to have one.

But if it's flavours of ice cream, Mint choc or banana.
There's a lovely place on Henry st that does Kinder Bueno stuff too, mmmmmmm.

Heard a guy from Strandhill, Sligo on with RT the other morning. He had visited an Italian manufacturer of ice cream who supply his shop. They source their ingredients from Glanbia.

My favourite is rum and Raisan

I wouldn't be a ice cream fan but the best commercially made that I ever tasted was from Burke's in Tara, Co. Meath. Dairy farmers making ice cream on the farm.

Sppedwell, Thought I misread. He really should not be doing that while eating ice cream!!!

Good ice cream in Clonakilty, don't know the local maker. Also neice mentioned Mac's in Killarney as good.

When in Italy l love hitting the ice cream parlours but here at home the '99 is still my treat of choice, but it has to be Angelito, not any oul sh*te. I know the spots to go to.

I give the wink and the Joey 'How you doin'?' to the girl behind the counter and she always gives me a massive one.... cone like!! :D

The ice cream in that shop in Golden Island is very powdery I find. 99s out of Mulhall's in Moate easily the best around.

There's a Walnut ice cream in Lidl at the moment. It's in a blue 1l box and it's brand is Gelatelli.
It's great stuff. Same brand in Orange and Vanilla isn't bad either.

I have been buying it for the last 6 or 7 years. Super Value normally sells it but I buy it from a local independent supermarket in ncd. No problem getting it during the Autumn/Winter months.

Tesco does an offer sometimes on boxes of loop the loops and tangle twisters. I think theres something like 8 or 12 in a pack for is it €4. They are very cheap anyways. Got them last year. Great to have in freezer this kind of weather.

Jesto, try a better attempt at humour.
Many people shop in Aldi and Lidl because they are fed up of being ripped off. Nothing to do with their own financial means. Very cliche post.

I don't know about the lollies, but all the tubs and blocks of HB are made by Lakelands here in Cavan.
The also make a lot of the "Springcool" mixture used in this country for the Caprigani machines for cones.
HB brand is now owned by Unilever.
Edit. Actually they are now making all the SuperValu icecream, and HB have gone somewhere else.
They are also packing all the butter for HM Prisons. No Irish cows are exploited for this however, as all the butter used is Channel Islands butter, brought over here, packed and exported back to UK.
