Self - Employed / Back to Education Allowance Query.

    Hi there,

    I'm currently on Back to Work Enterprise Allowance. I was on JA before and if I came off BTWEA now my entitlement to JA would be the same as it was before getting BTWEA.

    I have applied for Mature Entry Nursing for the 3rd year in a row and I've received a very good mark (I think) this year and this could be my year. Does anyone know if I will qualify for Back to Education Allowance based on my time spent on payments above.

    To clarify:

    July 2014 - June 2015 Jobseekers Allowance at €188.
    June 2015 - June 2016 - Back to Work Enterprise Allowance €188.
    June 2016 - September 2016 - Back to Work Enterprise Allowance €141.

    Will I be able to get Back to Education Allowance in September if I get my nursing course?

    At the moment work is very slow for me, I'm barely making €80 a week.

    Yes you will need to come off the BTWEA and back onto JSA both of these should qualify you for back to education . But check with Citizens advice or your local social welfare office to make sure.
