AJ Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson spoiled John Cena’s triumphant return last Monday night with a brutal three-on-one beatdown. Can the Cenation leader prove to The Phenomenal One on Raw that the future still goes through him, two weeks before they collide in a dream match at WWE Money in the Bank?

    1. Does John Cena belong in The New Era?
John Cena entered The New Era last week with the fire and passion that we’ve come to expect from the 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Unfortunately, that flame was quickly snuffed out by The Club, who brutalized “The Face that Runs the Place” in a sickening and disrespectful attack. The assault precipitated a bout between Cena and AJ Styles that will transpire on June 19 at WWE Money in the Bank.

Reunited after their apparent rift, Styles, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson seem stronger than ever in their quest to rule WWE’s New Era. However, there’s no way the returning Cena will allow The Club’s actions to go unanswered this Monday night. Two weeks before Cena and Styles meet in a never-before-seen dream match, The Phenomenal One and his crew might just learn what “Hustle, Loyalty, Respect” is all about.

    2. Are Becky Lynch & Natalya poised to dominate the Women’s division?
WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte ditched her father and gained an imposing ally in Dana Brooke, but a newly formed tandem dishing out submission holds and #straightfire has them in check. On SmackDown, after Dana interfered in the bout between The Irish Lass Kicker and the arrogant titleholder, The Queen of Harts emerged to send the platinum-haired pair running for the hills … or at least the nearest exit.

Both Natalya and Becky are determined to capture the WWE Women’s Championship. But first, they probably want to join forces and teach Charlotte and Dana some manners. That lesson might happen sooner than later.

    3. Will Seth Rollins’ mind games continue?
Seth Rollins took great pleasure in trolling WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and the WWE Universe last week, repeatedly feigning interest in getting into the ring with The Big Dog before ultimately taking a walk. For everyone waiting for Reigns to finally get his hands on The Architect, the drawn-out ordeal was agonizing, but imagine what was going through the mind of “The Guy,” who doesn’t want to wait until WWE Money in the Bank to change Rollins’ motto from “Redesign, Rebuild, Reclaim” to “Recover, Regret, Rethink.” Reigns will be looking for a fight on Raw; whether Rollins actually gives him one is another matter entirely.

    4. Who will earn ‘Money’ momentum?

Six men have qualified for this year’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and six men have made valid arguments as to why this is their year. SmackDown concluded with a symbolic scramble for the briefcase — housing a contract for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match at the time and place of the winner’s choosing — and it was Cesaro who was last to hold the coveted container. Might that be a sign of things to come, or will Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens or Alberto Del Rio make an even bolder statement on Raw?

    5. Has Titus O’Neil put Rusev on notice?
Rusev has been on a tear recently, capturing the United States Championship at WWE Extreme Rules and excessively punishing his opponents even after he has defeated them. As The Bulgarian Brute continues to mangle American Superstars he views as “entitled,” Titus O’Neil has risen in defense of the red, white and blue. Will we see another confrontation between The Super Athlete and the formidable Floridian?

So Romain Reigns is so boring on the mike there promoting himself and rollins on the big screen with pre recorded interview segments as Rollins would destroy him on the mike.

I'd rather mute raw and listen to barbie girl on repeat for three hours than having to hear the roman empire again or michael cole screaming like a little bitch saying Superman punch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,643 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

They should get nakamura, Aries, Joe, Balor, Gargano up from nxt and go for it, fairly stale at the minute! The talent is there, show it to your biggest audience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Depp

Finn is definitely up soon, think the fact the next nxt takeover is called the end is a big hint. Kindve enjoying this cena-aj angle at the minute but the new day hopping up to help was a bit sh!t, its like hes becoming a parody of himself

Have they ever protected someone as much as reigns?

Cena never had this kind of protection mainly as he could handle the booing and chanting really good.

I see Roman Reigns as a child on a bike with stabilizers, and WWE being the reluctant parent in letting him go without said stabilizers... Sooner or later, those stabilizers will have to come off and let Roman go on his own..

Cena/Styles was brilliant. The two know the roles they are to play, and are playing them perfectly. It elevated everyone involved, including the New Day who got to be more serious. The fact Cena put Styles on the same level as The Rock was great too.

On the other hand, Rollins/Reigns is dreadful, with the roles being all over the place; am I meant to boo the guy who has worked hard to get over an injury, and is 100% justified when he says he never lost the title? Am I meant to cheer the guy saying he's own his own, basically dismissing The Usos and his buddy Dean? The fact they have, once again, gone back to "Don't let them play out their story in front of a crowd" means they know the issue is there. They just can't be bothered to do anything about it.

Other than that, some solid wrestling.

I enjoyed the Teddy angle, but I'm wondering if the "end" of the show-long story is a set up for him returning as a manager? Putting him with Apollo Crews, who is lost without a mouthpiece, could be interesting.

Cena coming back and doing so well could not be worse timed for Reigns as it's basically showing up everything he is supposed to be but isn't. This is a feud that should go all the way to Summerslam with a few people joining the feud along the way to make up the numbers game (Enzo and Cass?)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

The Roman Reigns booking continues to be the issue.

Rollins returns and is coming for a former shield brother to get back the title he never lost and yet it is at the very most the 3rd place feud as far as im concerned going into this PPV and I would say most would place it below that.

I mean I am very interested in the AJ vs Cena match and the MITB match will always be a big one especially with those 6 workers in there but meh is all I feel towards the title match atm.

If they had just gone with Roman as a heel there would be no issue with sending him out to get booed and he would be getting a great heel reaction while the returning Seth would be super over and popping the crowd like mad as he opposed him... but alas

That Raw was a bit better than the last few but that's not saying much.

The Cena/Styles feud has got me interested but like others said the Rollins/Roman feud is all wrong but they won't be changing it.

Had to have a laugh thinking this is the "new era" with Steph still on the show never getting her comeuppance and then Teddy Long comes out! Talk about recycling!

Then I couldn't help laugh again when Teddy gets thrown out and then they go straight to a video about Muhammed Ali and fighting for civil rights. Just unfortunate timing but made me laugh!!

I never understand why Del Rio's opponents lift themselves up so he can hit his finisher.
Would've been funny if Del Rio faced El Generico instead of Zayn.

    Did Becky trip over Natalya?

Yep, it's a blood good reinforcement that they should be very very careful about Cena vs Reigns. If Reigns isn't at all over after that feud, he's beyond ****ed.

Feel like Cena vs Styles could be really really good.

wouldnt be surprised if they turn cena heel and use feed him to reigns, boy would he look strong then!

    What a weird show.

Wtf was with the Teddy Long stuff? Just very odd. Charlotte backpedalling, Sami being essentially squashed, lot of strange things on this show.

I could rant forever about how Seth's return has been handled. If you absolutely insist on this fools errand and keeping him as a heel. Fine. But why show that video package? It's literally impossible to boo the man now.

Reigns is an utter failure as champion. He isn't drawing(house shows are down 10-15%) and he's getting the CM Punk as champion treatment now, infact it's worse. He's barely on TV.

AJ and Cena I loved. AJ cut possibly the best promo of his career. Only issue is Cena basically called him a failure(and in kayfabe he's correct he's failed his entire WWE run) so now AJ has to beat him.

I enjoyed the promo on the ladders, good banter. Jericho is so great and the likes of Sami and Cesaro come across very natural and comfortable jousting with him. I don't have a clue who's winning but i'd be fine with any of them winning. Ambrose makes the most sense especially given the Ambrose Asylum segment for next week(didnt Stephanie cancel that???).

Very strange show. I wouldn't call it bad but I get the feeling there's a lot of weird things going on backstage.

Also very weird was the fatal 4-way for the tag titles.
Where are they going with that.
Seems too soon to put the belts on any of the three new tag teams, but if New Day beat all three teams in one night they look like chumps, and can't be taken seriously in a one-on-one title match.

Nah you just go with the one you want to push least and have them get pinned (probably Vaudevillains). Would be a bad idea to have a title change IMO. Let New Day hold it until someone becomes worthy of the push.

think the belts need to be moved on and id say they will at money in the bank, probably down to some ''club'' jiggery-pokery, know they're super over at the minute but they're starting to go a bit far into the comedy wrestler category lately with the time machine promo and all, kinda taking away from the legitimacy of the titles a bit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,565 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

So no titles are expected to change hands.

Think one thing about Cena's promo that I didn't like was when he pointed out how AJ lost his matches against Reigns. So while AJ pointed out Cena burying guys, Cena points out something that was scripted to happen (Yep, sorry, but WWE is scripted)
