Training tips/Resources

    Hi,

Forgive me if it's been posted before but I've done a marathon a few years ago and doing one next week but to be honest there will be minimal if any improvement on time. The problem is no structured training. I follow a Hal Higdon plan before the marathon and do nothing bar the odd 10k, play soccer in between.

I've suffered a few soccer injuries so really want to give running a proper go so want to take my training seriously so just looking for a guide/book/website for training/nutrition. I have no interest in joining a club right now but I have a large garden for sprints, laps etc so no excuses really. I don't see any reason why I can't get to 3:30 marathon in a few years if I start training properly (currently 28)

In my head I was going to sign up to Freeletics and do that 3/4 times a week, follow an 18 week marathon plan when required, clean up the eating and go back playing soccer, or training at least for a bit of speedwork.

Any thoughts on this? My thoughts would be Freeletics would build full body strength and there is some sprint work in it too, the marathon plan would cover endurance running and soccer training for some sprint work.
