VW Touran 1.6tdi rattling noise in 5th and 6th

I have a 2011 1.6 tdi manual VW Touran with about 150kms on the clock. When accelerating in 5th and 6th a rattle sound comes from under the bonnet. Not very loud, but noticeable. It sounds like a babys rattle. I can go through the gears, and there's no noise at all, but once I get to 5th, and accelerate, it come in about 1800 rpm, and lasts till about 2400rpm, and then fade away to quiet. The same thing happens then when I go to 6th.
This only happens when I'm accelerating, and only in 5th and 6th. It makes no different what surface I'm driving on, or if the car is cold or hot. The clutch is heavy, but doesn't judder or anything. There no warning lights on the dash, and it's been serviced.

Any ideas what could be making the noise. For all I know, this could be common, but looking around the interweb, I can find very little that sounds like my problem.

Could be the dual mass flywheel on it's way out. Is the clutch biting high? Try this test, put the handbrake on and allow the clutch to bite against the handbrake. If you hear the same rattle then it is possibly the DMF. It'll get worse before the clutch eventually fails. What mileage has the car done? Most modern diesels will require clutch and flywheel somewhere in the 100-150k miles region. If you've used the car in traffic or primarily on short journeys then the DMF and clutch won't last as long as open road driving. Also, you should try and avoid labouring a modern diesel engine at low rpm. This reduces the life of the clutch and DMF and isn't very good for the engine either.

    Thanks for that.

I tried the handbrake and bite against it, but there's no noise. Ticking over or using any other gear than 5th or 6th there's also no noise.

The best way I could describe it is it's link it's ' pinking ', as a petrol car would if the timing as too advanced. But it's strange that it only affects just those 2 gears. It sounds a little too light to be in the gearbox, as in, it's like a valve of some sort opening and closing really quick. Or maybe it is in the box. Do you know if those two gears have their own layshaft they run on independent to the rest of box?
