Would be ok if I write down retired?

I really wouldn't like to let know everybody I am disabled also disabled is not an occupation

retired means that for some reason I don't work any more, I don't think I have to specify why

    Retired isnt an occupation either!

Why ask what to put down, if your insisting on putting down retired? You are not retired, so you would be telling a lie, which can be an offense.

Unemployed or Disabled is what you put down

if I am disabled temporarily and intend to return to work, I would write disabled
But if for my disability I will not to able return to work, I don't understand why I can't write retired, I even have pension to report as income

I don't think is wrong if I write I am pensioner

Are you a pensioner? No. So it is wrong.

Isn't a pensioner a person that is receiving a pension??

Why are you asking if you've already decided?

A retiree is someone who has withdrawn from the workforce due to age or disability. The old age pension is for people over a certain age. The invalidity pension is for people whose health means they will not be able to work again in the future. You have retired, OP.

and why you don't answer my simple question:
Isn't a pensioner a person that is receiving a pension??

I don't have already decided but I don't just write disabled as occupation just because a person in boards.ie told me that is right to do so.
Where are the proof that this is the right thing to write?
If am receiving a pension to me it makes sense that I am a pensioner.
The fact that I am receiving a pension because I am old or disabled it should be my business.

It depends on whether the form is for TBH, there's a difference between retired and a pensioner.

Also disabled isn't temporary as you seem to believe!!

But you will right down pensioner because a person on boards.ie tells you too? You have your mind set before you asked for advice.

Yes, if you are in receipt of a pension of any type you could call yourself a pensioner but let's be honest, its very misleading. As a poster above said, it depends on the form I suppose..

A personal question if you don't mind my curiosity, Why wouldn't you want anyone knowing you are disabled?

It's neither here nor there. Anyone who sees the OP's age or DOB will know that it's not an old age pension. She could be financially very well off and have retired early but odds are that being retired under the age of 66 means a medical retirement.

OP, there is no such thing as Disability Pension, in Ireland anyway. If you are under OAP age you are receiving either Disability Benefit or Allowance OR Invalidity Pension, (IP). IP is what you get if you are on long-term disability. If/when you reach OAP age you are usually offered the choice of staying on I.P. or Old Age Pension, whichever is the more favourable to you money-wise.

Dubl07 confirmed well what I was already thinking. Unfortunately you were not able to give an explanation that could make sense to me so I didn't really gave too much weight to your comments. Of course it will depends on the form, if I want to get some insurance for extreme sport I will have to notify the Insurance I have a disability and I wouldn't mind to write disabled as occupation, but for most forms retired will do just fine. Yes I do mind personal questions and it is not appropriate for you asking them.

Wow you're unbelievably hostile to people who took time out of their day to help you.
I won't be wasting my time anymore.

    I am receiving Invalidity Pension

Then you are indeed a pensioner OP.
Please don't stress about it and certainly don't worry about what posters who don't know what they're talking about think.
The form is not an exam and just fill it in as best you can.
