Licence re-testing

    I think this country really needs to bring this in to play. Over the weekend, I went to a wedding in Co. Clare and had probably the worst two drivers in front of me on the way there and on the way back.
    Given the lack of overtaking opportunities I thought I was going to go insane. I think I can refer to them as the serial brakers. Driving on a straight stretch, driver brakes, oncoming heavy vehicle, brakes. Slight corner, brakes. Every bus that we approached, driver braked.
    The two drivers? One was an elderly female and the other an elderly male (80s).I know it's not tied to age and you can find drivers that bad in any age group but the shocking standard of national, local and motorway driving I have noticed in the last few weeks has been nothing short of ridiculous.

    I've been saying for years that it should be mandatory to have a 'fresh' Theory Test to renew a licence, and anyone looking for their licence back after a ban should have to do the full test.

    It'll never happen though :(

    I agree. It is madness. Your Safe Pass course needs to be done every 4 years, because of 10 deaths on sites. There are nearly 200 people die on our roads every year, but no actions taken on education, or very little.
