Anybody see the ride on the fav in the French Derby there? Disgusting ride didnt try a tap on him. One of the worst I have ever seen in a classic.

Saw him well placed early on, not being able to get a blow in and then being eased down when beaten. The Dante form was bust in the Derby, Foundation shouldn't have been favourite especially on that ground. He'd flopped twice already when favourite on soft going.

Mekhtaal went off favourite. Jockey put him out the back early on and didnt even try when they hit the straight. Couldnt believe what I was watching. Try and watch the race again. Disgusting carry on.

    Sorry!

Was watching ATR and they were showing the bookies odds who had Foundation as favourite. Yeah I saw Mekhtaal out the back and not doing much early on and was concentrating on the front horses late on so missed him. ( Think Zarak is the one to take out of the race ).

I get why your peed off, that Mekhtaal looked like a serious horse the last time he ran and is the type that you'd want bursting away from the pack in the straight not the type to be held up for a big drive on the outside.

Poor enough ride alright. Draw didn't do him any favours although the Zarkava horse was drawn higher and finished second.

The more I watch that the worse it gets. The minute the horse seems to get into full stride and gain some ground Gregory Benoist stops riding him out?

WOW that's fairly amazing. The same stable as the winner but this was a Classic not some handicap.

He just steers the horse without pushing it out and the horse runs on like it's being laid out for the next day as if today didn't matter.

Can't get me head around it at all. Unless they want to keep the colt fresh for an Autumn campaign and a shot at the Arc. But if that was the case why run him?

I really don't get it either. I zoomed in on the horse in the race video for the last few furlongs and he was cruising all the way to the line in the style of a horse who could have made up 5 lengths if he was driven out. ( I still think he's Arc material )

Same stable but different owner than the winner I think and the PM money was down on him so stable confidence in him to win was probably high. Looks like a gambling decision to either let the stablemate win or to stop the favourite from getting placed.

The French Derby has become a horrible race. It's just too short for proper 12f horse and ye get a kind of mad scramble to the line where a decent but not brilliant 10f horse beats the miler and 12f horses.

Ground might of been too soft for the fav
Maybe the jockey felt he wasn't going to win and saved him for another day
