Gosh that would be very sad if true. The children and us bonded over a whole summer of 'rude' Tenacious D blaring in the car on every journey a few years back. :(

Just checked myself. No such mention. Can anyone in the Mirror use the internet?

But it is on the twitter page. Unless fake twitter

It's on the Tenacious D Twitter account: https://twitter.com/RealTenaciousD/status/739403908309716993

Likely a hoax though. Let's see.

Fake, most likely. Other celebrity twitter accounts have been hacked, such as the late Ryan Dunn's.

Yeah - it's on the Twitter page. Strange.

    I'm guessing hoax for now.

He played there last night for sure (Austria) - a friend saw them.

Facebook likes on a page, which can then be sold? This page got over a million likes.

Doesn't explain the message on the Tenacious D twitter page though.

They just tweeted that it was a prank and he is still alive.

    WTF!!!!!!!!
    Fairly weird and sick prank

He's been doing too many cock pushups. He should have taken the six nuggets, and thrown two of them away.

Near medically impossible tiny genitals, matched only by the amazing they can still live size of their brains.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Those messages aren't from Tenacious D, they're from the person who hacked the account.

I love the way the newspapers are describing the band as a fictional band. Surely if a band sells music and actually tours then they are a real band? Even if they don't sound great

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,687 ✭✭✭✭Penny Tration

Some nerd with feck all tweets has tweeted that it was them who posted the death notice, and their tweets have been retweeted by the tenacious d account.

People have too much free time.

Fictional how very dare they just because they are gods

Dont get why some muppets get a kick out of doing things like this.

I got a genuine pang of grief there reading that. I really like the guy. Been listening to the D for years. Thankfully he is still alive!

Bloody hell, that gave me a moment's O.O. Relieved that it was a prank.

Don't get the humour in it though. It's just weird.

Ah, so Jack Black had nothing to do with it? If that is the case they only took back control of twitter in the last hour or so. Twitter feed very different looking now.

A lot of people think that Tenacious D are a fictional band because their first big exposure was in a TV show of the same name, but they'd been together for a few years before that. It'd be a bit like calling the Beatles a fictional band if they'd only hit public awareness with A Hard Day's Night, the film.

And IMO Tenacious D are a great-sounding act in both the duo form and the full 5-piece form. Tight and with a good collection of songs to belt out.

I just would have thought that the newspapers would have researched the facts a bit more. I would have thought most people would have known they are a real band and a real passion of Jack Black.

Im also glad they got the dead part wrong. :)

Yeah, Jack Black is one of my favorites, mainly because of Tenacious D. Some of his film roles have been very funny as well, like in High Fidelity, School of Rock, Be Kind Rewind and Bernie.

Just another celebrity death hoax. It's getting a bit pointless now, what with the internet allowing us to check everything within seconds.
