Which is more likely to keep you getting marks in the exam and not to be losing them on purpose in the essay, repeating words or phrases from the question, or using synonyms of those words?

I've found that directly referencing the question and the words used in it has given me a considerably higher grade over the year from my school and grinds teacher. As monotonous and obvious as it is,it works and keeps the purpose mark high. That's just my personal experience :)
