The Bru homeless hostel only half full

The Bru can house 101 homeless. Since February they house only 40. The rest have to sleep outside. The hostel is fully staffed and beds are there. City council does not allow the homeless in. The newspapers say there are more homeless in the street than ever. The newspapers also state that rents are going up. 35% of the politicians are landlords with big portfolio. Is there a conspiracy to drive up the rents using the homeless as a tool?

The hostel is winding down and is to be closed.
It was opened as a short term measure for the 'Cold Weather Initiative' last winter and was due to close again last month.

It was on a short term lease from the Digital Hub agency, who presumably want their space back, as agreed.

I'm noticing a trend in your threads OP, but I haven't quite figured it out yet.

What rag newspaper do you work for OP?

It might be fully staffed for 40 and not 101 as they may not have the budget for staff and house 101.

it is staffed for 101 and not for 40. they also have replaced the paint on the floors with linoleum. they have not finished that job yet.
the digital hub will cease to exist in 2 months. the land is owned by dept of communications.

I'm guessing it might be more due to some homelss people not wanting to stay in shelters, and the logistical difficulties of getting to every homeless person to bring them to a shelter.

No, and I don't see what 35% of politicians has to do with it, I'd hazard a guess that 35% of people over 40 on a salary of over 80k are landlords

    Maybe it's half empty!

60 beds kept empty with the people at the door begging to get in. They were given sleeping bags instead. Staff have their hands tied. The decision came from above. City council stopped giving beds through the freephone. Do you see a bigger picture here?

The point being that the hostel was kept empty with full staff. The newspapers made a big thing of all the homeless in the street, and that the rents are going up. They put more money in the hostel and told staff that it was about to close.

Why are you asking? Who are you working for?

Why are you asking? Who are you working for?

You are the one with the information.

Why not go to someone who can be of some help and highlight it properly.

Why are you asking? Who are you working for?

You're making sweeping statements that sound like you are involved in a homeless service... You opened the thread so I think my question is fairly reasonable

What are you on about? You know nothing about the homeless. I would rather sleep in dog poo than go to a homeless hostel. Those who are on a six months bed are not homeless. They have a place. The staff are criminals. They use themselves and steal from the lockers. There is no staff in the sleeping area. They sell drugs in the hostels. Everyone smokes crack in the bedrooms. There are no working fire alarms. They force the drugs on ya. The hostels and services are a mess.

DCC is run by Sinn Fein and the far-left parties. It is in their best interests to have a homeless "crisis". They think that the more Middle class folk that work in the City have to step over homeless people, the more likely they will lose their nut and vote Sinn Fein/AAA-PBP

If SF and the far left parties already run DCC then they don't need to win votes to get into power, seeing as they already are? Contradicting yourself a little. As for creating a homeless crisis...I can't do a rolly eyes on my phone

This is also the same council that voted to cut one of their revenue streams (LPT) by 15% in a show of populism, and then have the cheek to complain that there is a lack of funding for various projects required in the city.
