Is it better to wear tights in the hot weather? Someone told me even though it feels warmer its actually better for your legs.

This thread will probably attract a few useless posts re Batman, Robin Hood etc. (If you're a chap then you probably wouldn't need to be reminded that certain anatomy is external to prevent overheating).

Compression shorts definitely improve circulation for me on longer distances but I've seen 1,001 threads that just argue I've been wearing incorrectly-sized running shorts, and that it's a placebo effect. (Ironically, Placebo did a song called '36 Degrees' about an emotionally cold/distant person, i.e. body temperature below that of a normal human being).

Some versions of compression shorts and tights often self-describe as having 'ventilator' qualities. Alas, when you look at the feedback for some (see example below) the fans are 'Ultimate Frisbee' experts.

(I'll always associate Frisbee with the 1970s, unisex, group participation, no-winners/no-losers, everyone participates/takes turns, group-hugs mindset).

However, there's plenty of material out there online to suggest that running tights and compression garments have limited benefits (whether hot or cold conditions), e.g.

Some with a better-informed sports science background could probably point you to hundreds of divergent academic papers on the subject.
