Braces and Medical Card

    I was wondering if a medical card would partially cover the cost of braces (both arches), Im 17, and I have a complete overbite thats been causing me a lot of trouble through my life. I always keep my teeth apart rather than together as its very uncomfortable and sometimes painful to keep them together. I went to a private clinic yesterday to confirm the overbite, and the orthodontist said I need braces, but I cant exactly afford them, as my parents already struggle with money. Is there any way that a medical card would help me out?

    No unfortunately. Over the age of 16 the HSE will not take you on as a patient, also the waiting list is graded, the most severe being given priority.
