what country are the strawberries from?

also my research suggests they're a wholesaler and don't sell directly to the public.

They are a wholesaler but also have a section to the left as you enter which is like a small supermarket open to the public. The majority of the building is the wholesale section.

    Poland.

Just doesn't seem right buying them from a shop when you can spend that bit extra to buy them at the roadside. Pulling in for the strawberry with the faint bouquet of diesel.

2 Kilos would cost a lot more than 'that bit extra' if buying Irish roadside

It's the whole experience though, not just the fruit.

All manner of exotic experiences in Maxela. :) If you've ever lived with anyone from over Russia/Poland direction you will know what to expect.

    Pickled something?

Pickled everything from what I could see, plus numerous Creature of the Black Lagoon type fish.

And to find those roadside ones are actually from the polo shop and not the field next door !!! Aren't "Wexford" strawberries to be found on the roadside as far away as Donegal ! Crazy claims all over

Charlestown is the part of Finglas near the m50 and Charlestown Shopping Centre. There's a Charlestown in Mayo too but that one doesn't have 2kg of strawberries for a fiver ;)

Were these jam strawberries, e.g strawberries that would be best made into jam and aren't as good as the other strawberries?

This should be the real price of Strawberries. In Tesco UK, but not here, at £1.29 sterling for 400gm. They are marked slightly shape imperfect but we wouldn't eat them , would we.

No they were grand strawberries. I'd say they had to shift them quick though. Today, two days later, they're not looking so great. Any left tomorrow will be being made into puree to freeze.

I was wrong earlier, they are actually Spanish strawberries, or were.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

All of the Polostores (all around Dublin) have the 2kg crates for €4.99

They fly out the shops though, obviously. But they do seem to get re-stocked.

The strawberries are Spanish, just like in the OP. Very tasty. They are in season there late May, so not grown in glasshouses / polytunnels like the current Irish ones you can buy (and are pretty tasteless)
